What wilderness survival courses do you offer in Oregon?

Primal Skills Academy offers wilderness survival fundamentals, kids bushcraft, kids hunting and trapping, and an online survival course. All in-person courses are based in Central Oregon near Bend and Sisters.

Who is Joel van der Loon?

Joel van der Loon is a wilderness survival instructor, certified spiritual life coach, and hunter based in Central Oregon. He spent 40 days alone on the TV series ALONE and has lived with the Hadza hunter-gatherers in East Africa. He has taught wilderness survival and led men's transformational programs for over a decade.

Do I need experience to take a wilderness survival course?

No experience is needed. Primal Skills Academy courses are designed to welcome all experience levels. Joel's teaching approach meets students wherever they are, whether they are brand new to the outdoors or looking to refine existing skills.

Where are the courses held?

In-person courses are held in Central Oregon, primarily serving Bend, Sisters, and surrounding areas. An online course is also available for those outside the region.
